complicated for everyone whether or not you are transgender or intersex; to understand some of the vocabulary that is used by
individuals within the transgender, gender nonconforming and intersex communities to self-identify; to understand texts from
classical Judaism that refer to gender diversity; to know how to find more information on gender diversity and finally, to take
action steps to build a practice or agency that is welcoming to transgender, gender nonconforming and intersex individuals.

community leader who has supported the development of the Institute as well as JPride, the local LGBT Jewish organization for the

Hide Details Out and Faithful is an interfaith panel discussion series that is a joint project between the Institute for Judaism and
Sexual Orientation and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. Dr Joel Kushner moderates the series that brings together LGBT
Jews, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Muslims and those of other faith traditions to discuss and explore spiritual and religious
issues and concerns. One significant theme examined will be the common and divergent struggles LGBT people face in building and
maintaining spiritual integrity within both supportive and hostile environments. This series was originally pioneered by the New
York Gay and Lesbian Center.
